Kathleen Irvine grew up in Southern California in the midst of her mother's rose
and vegetable gardens. Throughout her life she was drawn to the arts and
nature. She spent her childhood and teen-age years in a ballet studio.
She attended Loyola-Marymount University where she received a degree in English
Literature, with minors in Sociology and Fine Art. Unable to leave her love of
ballet behind, upon graduation she pursued a career in dance. When the physical
demands of dancing became too much, she returned to her first loves - roses
and insects.
She received her certificate in Ornamental Horticulture and
Landscape Design from Pierce College. She has been designing landscapes
since 1991.
